Yves Schelpe (Psy'Aviah) Awesome soundtrack, and the extra remixes we get are a plus. Worth checking out for both ambient lovers and those who love electro/techno/trancy vibes from the good old days. Because Sorrow Stories shows of versatility here - you won't be bored - you'll get sucked into her world of electronica! Favorite track: Tunnel (Exit).

about

Tamesis Trilogy I is the first instalment of the multi award winning experimental short film. Its central theme is based on and around the River Thames and it was intentionally produced for the soundtrack to be performed live alongside its screening. Lo Fi, shot on multiple iPad Pros and iPhones, drones and Go Pros it is set in an alternate reality where the protagonist, ‘Sammy’ - a gay Spanish seahorse collective who as ‘Guardian of the Waters’ time travels in a submarine (Like a Dr Who Tardis) on a mission to warn humans about waste, plastic pollution and the preservation of the  creatures that inhabit the river and surrounding areas. At it’s premiere on the Tamesis moored on the river, it was described as ‘spectacularly bonkers’ by one audience member, a description which the Director / Producer Dennis Da Silva happily accepts as a key characteristic. Having written and conceived using the unconscious, Dennis found that this process later would prove to reveal coincidences as to the locations involved being of huge archaeological and spiritual significance. Despite the seemingly absurd premise, it is in fact encoded with truths and facts that outweigh the experimental and surreal aspect by far and its core message about the river in connection to the universe is fully disclosed within one of the three instalments.  The music and sound that was produced collaboratively with Sorrow Stories captures perfectly the feel of the work incorporating the sounds and dialogue alongside the gravitas of the compositions help to create a delightful mix of the sublime and tongue in cheek, electronica.

It is a standalone piece and was partly a nod towards the Tiny Colour Movies project by John Foxx who Dennis had worked alongside earlier in his career, which although set to music was made from discarded Super 8 & 16 mm found footage of unknown origin.

Originally made for the Totally Thames Festival in 2019, Tamesis Trilogy I is a recipient of the Jean Luc-Godard Award for Best Experimental Short 2020. It received its live music screening at the Cinema Museum as part of Exploding Cinema programme on 9th November 2019 with Director Dennis Da Silva introducing the piece then remixing the soundtrack live on a set up using an iPad Pro, dock and Arturia Midi keyboard.
